Tales of the Road poem competition

  1. This competition will run from 16th February 2011 to 15th March 2011.
  2. Submitting your details will enter you into the competition from the Tales of the Road.
  3. The promoter of this competition is the Department for Transport, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DR.
  4. The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland only, excluding employees or agents of the Department for Transport and Sole Creator or anyone else connected to the competition and/or their immediate family.
  5. Entrants must be aged between 6 to 11 years and must obtain permission from a parent or guardian before entering this competition.
  6. All entries require parents' permission, by replying within 7 days to the consent-email automatically sent to them. Failure to reply invalidates entry. Department for Transport reserves the right to invalidate entries or the prize winner(s) if the appropriate authorisation is or was not provided.
  7. Only one poem entry per person is allowed. Poems must be original and not copied in whole or in part from anyone else. Only entries made online via the Internet will be accepted.
  8. All submitted poem entries will become and remain the property of the Department for Transport, who shall be free to use them in the future.
  9. No purchase is necessary to enter this competition.
  10. Department for Transport does not accept responsibility for lost, damaged or illegal entries. Illegible entries (including corrupt files) will be invalid and proof or sending/mailing is not proof of receipt.
  11. All entries for the competition must be received no later than midnight on 15th March 2011 to be eligible for selection.
  12. All entries will be viewed and the winners selected by an independent third party, with a decision made on or before 29th March 2011. The judge's decision is final and will be based on originality, creativity and fit with the Tales of the Road campaign.
  13. The prize winner will receive confirmation that they have won a prize by 30th March 2011 via email. If we don't receive a response from the winner after a week, a new winner will be selected.
  14. Personal Information about prize winner will be shared with the Department for Transport's agents to the extent necessary for prizes to be delivered to the prize winners. Personal information will be deleted once the monthly competition has closed and the winner has been selected and responded.
  15. All prizes are non-transferable. No cash alternative is available for any prize. In the unlikely event that a prize should become unavailable, the Department for Transport reserves the right to substitute a prize which it may determine as being of equal value.
  16. Entrants accept that if they win, the Department for Transport will have the right, without additional payment or permission, to use their name for the purposes of announcing the winners of this competition and they may be required to participate in post-event publicity.
  17. Parents / Guardians of the winner will be asked if they are able to email a head-shot photo of their child (with written consent confirming they are the parent / guardian). The photo will be attached to their poem, which will be displayed within the competition section of the Tales of the Road site. In the event that a photo and written consent are not given, the winning poem will still be displayed on the site.
  18. There will be one first prize of a pair of custom shoes from Sole Creator. The competition winner will be informed by email that they are the first prize winner and how to redeem their prize.
